Dependency Theory

I primarily use the media for communication and entertainment purposes because I heavily rely on social media to be my way to talk to friends and family although I do spend a considerable amount on YouTube for entertainment. I find that the internet can be a great way to discover and retrieve useful information for many things. I believe our society is very dependant on the media as we strive to be like celebrities and often follow certain trends in almost anything that we see in the media. If the media says its good then society believes them and they  adapt immediately. The younger generation will be more hooked to the media the current generation and they will rely on it even more than us- considering books are going out of the mainstream and everything is going digital such as the existence of Wikipedia or e-books. I agree that our dependence on the media changed dramatically as our phones are powered by the internet and we use it heavily on social media. Children as young as 7 are seen using smartphones so what will the future look like? Furthermore, I agree with the article from the Telegraph because the dependency theory states how the behaviour of people changes with the media and the article backs this up as many people will have change in emotion when the media states something but in addition to this, children may become aggressive if they can't have access to the media which reflects back on the results of the telegraph. My opinion is that we can't do much to stop the new generation from having access to the internet/media because its essentially everywhere so we should just accept it.
