Introduction to Media: Media consumption audit

Newspapers
  • Which daily newspapers (if any) do you read? CNET, BBC News & Collider
  • What sections of newspapers do you turn to first, and why? Technology and box office results as they're the ones I'm most interested in.
  • What sections do you never read, and why? Politics because I simply don't care who runs the country. 
  • What kinds of stories do you usually read and why? New film releases and new tech news as I like to stay up to date on those subjects.
  • Do you, or someone else, buy the newspaper you read? No I read online.
  • Do you look at the online versions of any newspapers? Which newspapers? Why do you visit their website and not others? I read and visit Collider the most because they have well detailed articles.

Magazines
  • What magazines (if any) do you buy regularly?  None
  • What sections of the magazines do you read and not read, and why? N/A

Television
  • Approximately how many hours a week do you spend watching television? Maximum 8 hours weekly.
  • What times of day do you usually watch television? Prime time 8pm-12pm
  • What programmes do you like best and why? Celebrity Juice as I love the comedy on the show.
  • Do you watch alone or with others? If you watch with others, who decides what you will watch? I watch alone.
  • Do you watch 'live' TV or on-demand/catch-up? Do you use any other devices to watch TV (such as laptop of tablet?) I watch live tv but sometime catchup online.

Radio
  • Do you listen to the radio? Yes.
  • If yes, what stations do you like best and why? I only listen to Monstercat Podcast Live.
  • Approximately how many hours a week do you spend listening to the radio? 3hrs weekly
  • What times of the day do you usually listen to the radio? 5-7pm
  • Where do you listen to the radio? Online at Twitch
  • What other activities (if any) do you do whilst listening to the radio? Homework

Cinema
  • What films have you seen in the cinema in the last month?
  • What films have you seen in other places – for example, through rental, satellite film channels (free or otherwise) or through video-on-demand? I download all the films online.
  • Who else watched the films with you? Friends
  • Who decided what films to watch? Myself/Group decision 
  • What devices do you typically use to watch films: TV, laptop, tablet, phone etc.? Cinema & TV

Online
  • How often do you access the internet? 6hrs a day
  • Where do you access the internet?  At home, at college or school, or at work? Home & school
  • What are the main sites that you access? YouTube & CNET
  • What are the main reasons for accessing these sites – for example, for information, to make purchases, communicate with friends or for entertainment? For information and to watch video content.
  • What other activities (if any) do you do whilst accessing the internet? None
  • What different devices do you use to access the internet? What is your primary device for accessing the internet? PC
  • What social networks do you use regularly (e.g. Twitter, Instagram)? Why do you belong to these networks in particular? I use Instagram to publish my photography and Youtube to publish video content. I hardly use Facebook now.
